PROYECTO PARA DIFUNDIR EL MENSAJE DE UNA MUJER ANÒNIMA EN LONDRES CON UN GRUPO PUNK
A PROJECT TO SPREAD THE WORD OF AN ANONYMOUS WOMAN IN LONDON WITH A PUNK BAND (SHORT BUS WINDOW LICKERS)
Josechu Dàvila Buitròn-SHORT BUS WINDOW LICKERS, 2009
A Foundation. Rochelle School Arnold Circus. London E2 7ES
OFF STREET Curated by: Blanca de la Torre
Featuring Artists: Elena Bajo, Jacobo Castellano, Josechu Dávila, Democracia, Maider López, PSJM and Avelino Sala.

The proposal consists in spreading the message through a song composed specifically for this work and interpreted in a live music performance by a band, during the opening of the show “Off Street”. The song will be played inside the old “music kiosk” of Arnold Circus, within the Boundary district. The broadcast will be recorded in a multimedia hard disk and this is what will be projected during the rest of the days of the duration of the exhibition.

The punk band “Short Bus Window Lickers” have composed a song with transcriptions of her speeches to remain faithful to the idiosyncrasy of her message.

The project raises, within the common structure of the GENERAL PROJECT, a series of transfers that redundate in the “useless” of the act itself that the work generates (something common in the work concept of the artist). Therefore, the message first travels from a peculiar neighbourghood in Madrid to another one in London, then it’s translated to another language (the band is from London and will compose the song in English), it will take form through another language, the music, and it ends up with the physical transfer of the music band from the street to play direct, to the interior of the exhibition space.

The GENERAL PROJECT aims to spread through artworks in different spaces, countries and circumstances, the daily speech that during 20/25 min, a woman speaks from her window to reproach the world. The core of this messages shows a cultivate and smart woman who throughs her “loads of profound thinking” to an impersonal courtyard, speeches where she reflects upon life, society, human being and its solitude. At the same time, she tells about her life and quotidianity little by little but surprisingly, she never mentions HER NAME.

(the song)

“HIJOS DE LA GRAN PUTA”
I believe in something
But I don’t know what
Seeing is believing
What the fuck is that?
I believe in someone
But I don’t know who
Jesus, Allah, Bhuda
Who the fuck is that?

HIJOS DE LA GRAN PUTA…
Better the devil you know
Than the devil you don’t
Century after century
You can all go to hell
My hate for you is eternal
My vengeance infernal
The church is full of lies
Secret police Nazis Gestapo

HIJOS DE LA GRAN PUTA…
Fat arsed lazy bastards
Always scratching your arses
Living off our toil and sweat
Shaking hands with grasses
I’ll never be silent
My rage wills never cease
Sick of society
It’s a disease

These daily speeches (Summer or Winter, rain or snow) were recorded from Saturday March, 8th 2008, until Sunday May 10th 2009 (8º anniversary of her first speech), therefore comppleting a one year period which was marked inicially and during which there were done the maximum number of recordings.
